Pickup answers the question:  Which outlets/Twitter handles picked up the full text-posting of my news release?

  • Total pickup:  Defined as all relevant media placements and influencer interaction around your content, consisting of either exact match pickup from the online and social media that we monitor, or tweets about your news.
    • Exact matches are full text posting of the press release in the online media that we monitor.
    • Tweets in Visibility Reports are those tweets/retweets discovered on Twitter by our reporting spiders, which contain a link to your release on our PR Newswire or CNW websites.

  • Total potential audienceThis number refers to the potential number of viewers exposed to your exact match and tweets. Total potential audience is calculated by adding up the following:
    • For online sites – the average number of visitors (obtained from an audience data provider) that frequent each online site that has posted your news. Visibility Reports utilizes data from the following sources:
  • NEW: SimilarWeb*: SimilarWeb provides Unique Monthly Visitors from desktop and mobile devices. This data is updated monthly.
  • Siteworthtraffic, an internet analytics company favored by come Asian customers. Measured in a visitors/day format.
  • Alexa, an American web traffic analysis company. Measured in a visitors/day format.
  • Cision Digital Reach*, a proprietary methodology created by Cision to measure the reach of online media outlets that post our news. Reported in a visitors/month format. In most instances, this will have been replaced by SimilarWeb as of April 25, 2020.
  • For tweets – the number of followers for each Twitter handle that tweets or retweets your release (obtained from Twitter).

*As of April 25, 2020 PR Newswire replaced Cision Digital Reach with a 3rd party data provider and industry leader: SimilarWeb. SimilarWeb is purely based on Unique Visitors per Month (UVPM) for both desktop and mobile users. The benefits of this include improved timeliness, accuracy and transparency of data. SimilarWeb Data is updated monthly so an outlet's audience will vary from month to month.

What is SocialPostTM?
SocialPost adds effective Twitter distribution to the most established and largest news distribution network in the industry, enabling you to more reliably reach your target audience, wherever they are.

SocialPost tweets your message to followers of industry-specific accounts and @PRNalert. Most of our Twitter accounts are curated by PR Newswire staff who engage influencers and build community. Tweets are sent to up to four PR Newswire accounts in two hour intervals immediately after a release posts to PRNewswire.com, maximizing the press release's visibility on Twitter and in search engines.

What are Impressions in my SocialPost report?

Your SocialPost's Impressions are the total potential audience for the post, made up of the followers of each SocialPost account that tweeted your press release and the followers of others retweeting it.

What are "Clicks from Twitter"?

Clicks from Twitter show the number of times users click the link to your release from any tweet.

What are the SocialPost Audience and Total Audience numbers?

SocialPost Audience is the total followers of the SocialPost accounts that tweeted your press release. The Total Audience for your SocialPost is the total followers of all accounts that tweeted or retweeted your release.
